Ballpark Changes Photo Gallery

The year 2002 produced a bumper crop of new Minor League parks.  Here's a look at all of them in the affiliated Minors.  To read a summary on each of them, go to the Minor League Ballpark Changes page.

Opening Day, a little delayed
O'Brien Field in Peoria, IL debuted in front of a full house on May 24th.  Construction delays prevented the facility from being ready by the beginning of the season.

Fresno's new playground
The Pacific Coast League's Grizzlies play in a brand new park in downtown Fresno.  Spacious and modern, it follows the positive pattern of new downtown parks in Memphis, Oklahoma City, Louisville, Rochester and Indianapolis.

Named for Cal, in Cal's hometown
Cal Ripken grew up in Maryland's Aberdeen, and now that small city has both a minor league team in the NY-Penn League and a super new baseball park

The view from the Mudhens' roost
Downtown Toledo is the home of the brand-new Fifth Third Field, seen here from the seating section known as The Roost.

Another new park named after a local hero
Casper, Wyoming is proud of former Major Leaguer (and native of Wyoming) Mike Lansing, and their new park is named after him.  The Casper Rockies of the Pioneer League now play here.

Windswept Midland
The RockHounds of Midland, TX play in a new park where the wind never stops blowing.  The windy-but-beautiful First American Bank Ballpark was named Best New Park for 2002.
