Angel Stadium

This renovation was heavenly
One of the "signature" aspects of a baseball stadium is its entrance
behind home plate. When the wonderful renovation of "The Big A in Anaheim"
was completed in 1998, one of the best improvements was to the main entrance.
Those are two h-u-g-e sculptures of batting helmets on each side
of the plaza. Originally, they were blue, but now they've been repainted
red to match the team's current dominant uniform color. FYI: in 2004, the park known as Edison International Field was renamed "Angel Stadium of Anaheim."
The rebuilding of the park in the 1990s involved, among many other things, ripping out the upper decks in the outfield, thereby making what was essentially a football stadium into a baseball-only facility. At one point, a huge A-shaped structure held the stadium's scoreboard. Well, that structure was moved to the parking lot and acts as a reminder to passersby on the 57 Freeway that baseball is played here. It can be seen in the photo above, beyond the right-field stands. Both of these photos, by the way, are from 2010.
The Angels have been quite successful on the field and at the gate in recent years, meaning good seats are hard to find. Therefore, click here for the best tickets at Angel Stadium.
