Big League Ballpark Notes

The Nationals got their way, and opening day at their new ballpark (left) will indeed be the first regular-season game in North America (there's an opening series in Japan March 25 and 26). The park's debut will be March 30 ... The new owner of the Chicago Tribune, which also owns the Cubs, seems eager to divest the baseball team, and turn over Wrigley Field to the state of Illinois ... There wasn't enough hoopla surrounding Hal Bodley's last column in USA Today the other day. Over his 25-year career with the paper, he cranked out over 2,500 of his "On Baseball" columns. He'll be missed.
