Marlins OB bound

The Marlins, who will change their name to the Miami Marlins, will indeed move into a park that will be built where the Orange Bowl (above) now sits. Details are almost finalized.

Big League Ballpark Notes

New owner of the Cubs Sam Zell intends to sell the team and Wrigley Field in two separate transactions, which will probably delay the sale of either for a long time ... Too little too late? Sarasota pledged $17 million toward renovating Ed Smith Stadium in an attempt to keep the Reds' spring training in their city. The team is currently eying a move to Goodyear, AZ, though ... The Yankees have renamed their spring ballpark Steinbrenner Field ... Speaking of the Bronx Bombers, big surprise: the first billion-dollar ballpark will belong to the Yankees. The team's COO divulged that the total price to replace the current Yankee Stadium with a new facility (left), which is currently under construction, will be about $1.2 billion.
