Mark your calendars now! The History Channel's long-running series Modern Marvels will feature shows of interest to ballpark fans. On March 22, the topic will be domed stadiums, and a week later, the modern baseball park will be examined. FYI: I was interviewed for these two episodes.

Big League Ballpark Notes

The chairman of the state entity that seeks to assume ownership of Wrigley Field stated that the city of Chicago should relax the strict provisions in Wrigley's historic-landmark status. Meanwhile, Cubs fans are unhappy at the possibility of the ballpark taking on a corporate sponsorship name ... The logo for the Mets' new stadium was shown for the first time Monday. It will be displayed throughout Citi Field when it opens next year ... The majority of the 110 citizens who spoke out at a public hearing in St. Petersburg were vocal in their opposition to the Tampa Bay Rays' proposed $450-million ballpark ... No great surprise: the Twins announced that the pricetag of their new stadium (left) has jumped by $22 million, but the team will cover the extra cost. It opens in 2010.
