Ballparks on TV

The History Channel's long-running series Modern Marvels is featuring shows of interest to ballpark fans. This Saturday at 7:00 p.m. Eastern, the topic will be domed stadiums, and a week later, the modern baseball park will be examined. FYI: I was interviewed for these two episodes.

Spring has sprung!

In Arizona (we have a special collection, completely updated!) and Florida, exhibitions games are now the order of the day. Surprise last Friday is shown above. Even MLB.com has devoted an area.

Big League Ballpark Notes

Officials from Goodyear, AZ announced that they can indeed come up with the money to expand the spring training complex already under construction there (left). That will bring the Reds in 2010 ... Lots of news is coming out of Chicago these days. The new owner of the Cubs is interested in selling Wrigley Field to the state, which would then implement significant renovations. This would necessitate that the Cubs play home games at US Cellular Field for a period of time. Helping to pay for the renovations would be a sale of the naming rights to Wrigley ... The video screen at the Washington Nationals' new park is "like a high-definition TV on steroids," observes the Washington Post.

Visitors in 2007: 365,236. Since the site started: over 1.3 million!
