This past Saturday, the History Channel's long-running series Modern Marvels taught you about domed stadiums. This coming Saturday (the 29th) at 7:00 Eastern, the topic will be the history of the baseball park. FYI: I was interviewed for both of these episodes.

Big League Ballpark Notes

Did you know that baseball games are played round the clock at the Metrodome at this time of year? ... All of the other 25 spring-training parks had lights, so it was high time McKechnie Field in Bradenton joined the nighttime craze. It finally happened last week ... A bizarre standoff unfolded at the Red Sox' training camp in Ft. Myers Wednesday, as the team indicated it would boycott the season-opening series in Japan. MLB officials quickly agreed to pay the coaches what was promised, and the trip to the Orient was back on ... The Dodgers made a big deal of playing their last exhibition game in Vero Beach's Dodgertown (although it's hardly certain their new Arizona complex will be ready by 2009).
