No fun at Fenway

Coming off the emotional high of dispatching the Yankees, you'd think the Indians would be pumped for Game 1 of the ALCS. Not so much: Boston 10, Cleveland 3.

Rockies rolling

Wow! The Rockies have gone from being the best story in baseball to defying belief. They won for the 18th time in their last 19 games in beating Arizona in game 1 of the NLCS at Chase Field.

Big League Ballpark Notes

After the success of the inaugural World Baseball Classic last year, more venues are expected to bid on hosting some of the games in the next WBC, which will be in 2009. Dodger Stadium (left) wants to be in the running ... The land where the Minnesota Twins' new stadium is being built is back in the news. Hennepin County and the owners of the site agreed late Friday to a mediated settlement on the purchase price, averting a long, messy trial ... The Sports Business Journal reported that the Nationals will probably open their new ballpark in 2008 without a corporate sponsorship name on it ... A "watchdog" group has accused the Yankees of submitting questionable charges under the heading of planning for their new stadium ...
