Not to be outdone
The Tampa Bay Rays have been garnering the headlines for weeks about their proposed new park in St. Pete. Now the Marlins have news of their own. Miami is proposing a series of public improvements, including a retractable-roof ballpark. While the Marlins haven't yet agreed to fund the $155 million the city is asking of them, the proposal does eliminate past roadblocks: requiring funding from the state; getting voter approval. The best case scenario calls for the $525-million, 37,000-seat park to be completed by 2010.
