Citizens Bank Park

Remember our Veterans -- but forget the Vet
Reduced to a pile of rubble is Philadelphia's Veterans Stadium, an aging concrete doughnut whose bright blue seats usually were only half-occupied. Next door, a fascinating replacement arose, one where the fan energy is evident even an hour or two before the games.
That vibrancy can be felt in the shot above, as it shows the buzzing crowd along the outfield concourse -- which is like its own bustling city. In this shot taken prior to a game in 2009, you'll find countless food choices, the "stacked" bullpens, the Phillies Wall Of Fame, pictorial timelines of the team's rich history, arcade-like games and rooftop seats reminiscent of the ones on row-house rooftops across the street from the outfield in Philadelphia's now-demolished Shibe Park.
Citizens Bank Park has perhaps more interesting features inside its gates than any other big-league ballpark. Certainly one you should see for yourself, if you can get a ticket! One time, I arrived in town to watch them play, only to find out the game (on a Tuesday night) was sold out. Don't get shut out yourself!
