Updated for 2014: the laminated, sturdy Baseball Travel Map
Join us for a free slide show about the best ballparks of yesteryear
If you'll be in the Phoenix area the last week of March, you'll want to attend our presentation on the 16 "classic" ballparks that are no longer around. The presentation is free and open to the public. It will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 26th at The Cimarron Club in Surprise, Arizona.
Joe Mock, the webmaster of Baseballparks.com, will describe for you the baseball stadiums that only exist in the memories of fans, and he'll show you what the sites look like today! Shibe Park. Crosley Field. Forbes Field. The Polo Grounds. Old Yankee Stadium. The Baker Bowl. Griffith Stadium. County Stadium. Sportsman's Park. Memorial Stadium. Braves Field. Comiskey Park. Tiger Stadium. League Park. Municipal Stadium. And of course Ebbets Field. Sixteen parks in all, and Joe will count them down from #16 to the best of the batch!.
If you have questions about the program, feel free to send me an e-mail, or post a comment below. There is no admission charge, but donations to the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation will be welcomed.
The event is hosted by the Sun City Grand Sports Interest Group. The Cimarron Club is located at 17100 West Clearview Blvd., Surprise, AZ 85387, just a couple of miles from the Rangers' and Royals' spring-training complex. Their phone number is (623) 975-5646. See you there!
