Dolphin Stadium

OK for football, but not for baseball

Wow, is there ever a huge drop from #2 to #3 in this division!  Once you get past Turner Field, you're not left with much in the way of quality ballparks in the NL East. At #3 in the division is Miami's Dolphin Stadium, which can have overflow crowds for something other than Dolphin games.  But not often.  Here, Florida Marlin fans have jammed "Joe Robbie" (a nickname related to the original name of the stadium) to see the home team take on the Cubs in the 2003 NLCS.

A more common sight at Marlin home games is this: a few thousand fans scattered around the cavernous stadium. By the way, a lot of money was spent sprucing up this place, but it was done in preparation for hosting the 2007 Super Bowl. Put another way, the improvements might be appreciated by football fans, but the changes do practically nothing to improve the experience of attending a baseball game here.
