Looking ahead

With the World Series now in the rear view mirror, it's time to look ahead to the two new complexes that will open in Arizona in February. Check out our preview of the one in Glendale, which will be the springtime home of the Dodgers and White Sox, and also visit Baseball Pilgrimages' excellent assessment of Goodyear's complex which will house the Indians and Reds.

Ch-ch-ch-changes

It's a good time to review all of the incredible ballpark developments and openings in 2008. Our Ballpark Changes in the Majors page for this year recaps the long and winding road encountered by the new stadium in D.C. (above), and previews the new facilities coming in the next few years.

Big League Ballpark Notes

The Yankees announced that their new $1.3 billion ballpark will get a test run prior to Opening Day, which is scheduled for April 16. On April 3 and 4, the Yanks will play exhibitions against the Cubs ... As reported in our photo essay on Glendale's new spring-training complex, the White Sox are determined to train there in 2009. A buy-out plan with Pima County is in the works ... The Dodgers, who will share the Glendale complex with the ChiSox, will charge the highest prices for exhibition games in 2009 ... It had been a long while since there'd been any news about a new park for the A's. Team owner Lew Wolff confidently told AP sports editors, though, that a new high-tech stadium in Fremont is still on track (the site is shown to the left).
