Nationals Park

Outside, a monument. Inside, worthy of a cabinet position

After a ridiculously long wait of 34 years, the Majors returned to our Nation's Capital in 2005 ... and then had to endure three, long years at the barely adequate RFK Stadium. In hindsight, the three seasons at RFK were worthwhile, because the new park that was designed and constructed during that time certainly turned out to be a showplace.

The shiny new ballpark is about ten blocks south of our Nation's Capitol (the view below is looking north along South Capitol Street). Its designers envisioned an exterior that complements all of the Federal buildings and monuments in the city, complete with an off-white, pre-cast concrete look. The interior, though, is where Nationals Park really shines, with a seating bowl that is worthy of bi-partisan support. Truly, it's one of the best in all of sports. The sight-lines and proximity to the field make every seat a landslide winner.

Check out our in-depth review of Nationals Park, which also features 30 photos! But as is the case with any new park -- especially one with a smaller capacity like this one -- tickets for good seats will be hard to come by.
