Don't miss the History Channel!

by Joe Mock, President of Grand Slam Enterprises and Webmaster of BASEBALLPARKS.COM

Are you ready for baseball season? The History Channel will definitely get you psyched!

Learn about baseball stadiums on Modern Marvels

For the next two Saturdays, the History Channel will be focusing on baseball stadiums -- just in time for the start of the regular season.

One of the channel's longest-running series, Modern Marvels, is airing two episodes that baseball fans won't want to miss. This Saturday at 7:00 p.m. Eastern, you'll be treated to an in-depth look at how the dome changed sports stadiums forever. One week later, also at 7:00, Modern Marvels will show you the history -- and future -- of the baseball park.

The producers of the show found some interesting guests to help tell the story of these stadiums. Not only will you hear from team owners and architects, you'll also learn what some ballpark nuts have to say ... nuts like Eric Pastore of digitalballparks.com and, yes, yours truly, the webmaster of BASEBALLPARKS.COM.

Thank you for saying hello at spring training!

Thanks to all of you who made a point of speaking to me during my week in Arizona at spring training. You read about my appearances in our last newsletter, and you came and found me at the Cactus League games. I really enjoyed meeting so many of you!

I was spending most of my time at the exhibition games at the souvenir shops. That's so I could autograph items fans had purchased at the stores -- like in the photo to the left, which was taken at the store at HoHoKam Stadium in Mesa.

Of course, you can buy those same items online, and if you'd like for me to sign them, I'd be delighted to. You'll find the colorful Touring The Majors poster, the brand-new 2008 Baseball Travel Map, a tremendously useful -- and durable -- resource, and even my book, Joe Mock's Ballpark Guide. If you'd like for me to autograph any of these items, send me an e-mail right after you place the order to tell me so.

I'm so happy to autograph the poster because we make a donation to the Mike Coolbaugh Memorial Fund for every poster sold. As you probably know, Mike was the first-base coach who died tragically after being struck by a foul line drive last July. We're proud to partner with this fund to provide support to Mike's young family.

By the way, here are games I'll be attending over the next few weeks. If you're going to any of them, let me know. I'd love to get to meet you!

Tuesday, March 25 in Ft. Worth, TX -- TCU college baseball game

Friday, March 28 in Los Angeles, CA -- Dodgers exhibition game at Dodger Stadium

Saturday, March 29 in Los Angeles, CA -- Dodgers exhibition game at the Los Angeles Coliseum

Sunday, March 30 in Washington, DC -- Opening Day of the new Washington Nationals ballpark

Monday, March 31 in Baltimore, MD -- Opening Day for the Orioles

Tuesday, April 8 in North Little Rock, AR -- Arkansas Travelers home game

Thursday, April 10 in Springdale, AR -- Opening Day of the new Northwest Arkansas Naturals ballpark

Saturday, April 19 in Round Rock, TX -- Round Rock Express home game
