My DisappointmentMeter for 2022 …

  • Due to the stupid impasse between owners and players:  March 1 at Surprise, AZ (as well as other spring training games in Arizona)
  • Postponements due to weather: March 1 at Oregon State Beavers; July 12 at Washington Nationals
  • I was scheduled to attend a game at the Wasco Reserve on June 5, but when I got to California, I learned that the team isn’t playing any games in Wasco this year, making them essentially a travel team in the Pecos League.
  • The master schedule for the indy Pioneer League showed a home game for the Northern Colorado Owlz for August 25. As recently as two weeks prior to that date, the Owlz’ website had a link for fans to buy tickets for the game on that date … so I booked a trip to Colorado. As I was about to depart for Denver, I checked one last time, and the Owlz’ site then said that the 25th was an off day. A check with the team’s GM confirmed that the team wasn’t playing at all that day. He blamed the confusion on the website administrator for the league. So I crossed that game off my list. And then it was played anyway — without me in attendance. This is no way to operate a business enterprise like a professional baseball league.
